Summary

"Venor" follows BRET and GWEN as they relocate from Chicago to Richmond with their dog IVY during the 2008 financial crisis. When the pair crosses into rural West Virginia, they are targeted by a country family who seek to sacrifice them to VENOR: a backwoods-dwelling killer they believe to be a deity. This project is a tale of modern folk horror that pits city against country in the vein of films like "Deliverance" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” At its emotional core, the story is about a couple trying to keep the faith of their relationship intact amid financial ruin and a family who has lost all hope when their matriarch is murdered. Allegorically, the film is about religious fanaticism and what people do with paranoia and fear when faced with the unknown.
